PATRONAGE INTRODUCTION:

The history of art does not exist without great patronage. From the de' Medici family and Michelangelo to the Sforza family and Leonardo da Vinci, arts patronage has funded some of the greatest works of Renaissance Europe and beyond.

LIKE THE NIGHT ITSELF:

“It’s your job to take this art form to a new generation” - Tommy Emmanuel AM

Driven by an unwavering vision to create music that stands the test of time, I’ve built this project since its inception in 2022 with the support of incredible patrons who chose to believe in the vision early. Initially through the Australian Cultural Fund, and now privately, I owe the creation of my forthcoming album these supporters. Working with an art form I’m committed to for decades to come, I have a resolve not only to the purity of my own musical expression, but to the deeper impact I’ve seen it have.

Patronage directly funds the completion of the album Like The Night Itself, its accompanying films, and the creation of a lasting body of work intended to stand for decades to come.

NEXT STAGE - NOCELLE - FILM IV OF LIKE THE NIGHT ITSELF:

After the release of the first three films from the album, the next piece moves to one of the most extraordinary places I encountered while writing this music - the small cliffside village of Nocelle, high above the Amalfi Coast. Perched above Positano and connected to the famous Path of the Gods trail, Nocelle sits in a quiet, elevated world above the Mediterranean. The atmosphere there - the wind, the path, the layered gradient horizon - suspended between heaven & earth. This film will capture that sense of solitude and elevation that inspired the music.

CONCEPT:

The film follows a solitary guitarist moving through the cliffs and pathways of Nocelle across the pastel light of late afternoon and into dusk. The imagery alternates between vast Mediterranean landscapes and intimate moments of playing - allowing the music to breathe alongside the environment that inspired it. Rather than a conventional performance video, the film is designed as a quiet cinematic meditation with understated yet obvious natural grandeur, continuing the visual language of the album’s series of music films.

VISUAL ATMOSPHERE:

The visual palette draws from:

  • Mediterranean sunset light

  • Cliffside paths and stone villages

  • Wind moving through valley forest below

  • Expansive sea horizons

  • Quiet solitary performance moments from my hideaway in the mountains

  • Camera will move slowly and observationally, allowing the location and music to unfold naturally.

STORYBOARD (KEY MOMENTS):

  • Opening: A wide establishing shot of the Amalfi coastline and cliffs around Nocelle.

  • Arrival: Walking along the stone path above the coast, carrying the guitar.

  • First Performance: A quiet playing moment overlooking the Mediterranean.

  • Atmosphere: Wind moving through plants, village textures, the light changing toward evening.

  • Sunset Performance: A final performance moment at golden hour above the sea.

  • Closing Frame: The horizon at dusk as the music fades.

PRODUCTION APPROACH:

This film will be shot in a minimal, independent production style, keeping the film intimate and authentic while allowing the location itself to become a central character in the piece.

  • Filmed and directed by Kyran Daniel

  • Natural light cinematography

  • Lightweight cinema camera setup

  • Small, flexible filming approach allowing the landscape to guide the imagery
